Overview

The Department of Ophthalmology ever since its inception, the department has always been in tune with latest technological developments and has maintained international standards.

Treatments & Procedures

FOLLOWING ARE THE FACILITIES AVAILABLE IN EACH SUBSPECIALITY

Cataract :

Microsurgeryforcataractlike phacoemulsification with foldable injectable IOL, Toric IOL / Multifocal IOL and manual small incision cataract surgery are performed in addition to the routine cataract surgeries with intraocular lens implantation.

 

Paediatric Ophthalmology:

This deals with the cataract extraction with IOL implantation, squint surgery and glaucoma surgery in children. Screening and treatment of retinopathy of prematurity in children are also done. ROP clinic is being conducted on every Monday of the week.

Glaucoma:

Glaucoma Detection, medical, surgical management and laser surgeries for glaucoma are performed.

Glaucoma clinic is held every Friday of the week.

Vitreoretinal Surgeries:

Retinal detachment surgery, intraocular foreign body removal, Diabetic vitrectomy are performed.

Retina Clinic is held every Wednesday & Thursday of the Week.

Oculoplasty:

The lid surgeries for ectropion, entropion, ptosis and sac surgeries like dacryocystorhinostomy are done.

Lasers And Fundus Fluorescein Angiogram (FFA):

FFA for diagnosis of retinal diseases, Yag capsulotomy, Yag iridotomy, retinal lasers for diabetic retinopathy (focal, grid, pan-retinal photocoagulation and other vascular diseases of retina-like venous occlusions and inflammatory diseases (PRP & sector lasers) are being done.

Eye Bank:

The eye bank of the department stores the donor corneas. These corneas are used for keratoplasty (corneal grafting).

24 Hour Trauma Care Facilities:

Includes management of chemical injuries to the eye, corneoscleral tears, lid tears etc.
